  • I agree. You have a vicious circle here. Corporations are sitting on billions of dollars now, possibly waiting for republicans to come back to power, hoping to continue the sweet deals they have now, and hoping for more sweet deals in the future.

  • To Gary King's post, if you believe that everyone the president has talked to in his life is his mentor, get real. I met lots of people in my life, some have influenced me, most not. I want what is best for this country, and I sure don't see it in the republican party.

  • Part of the cost of healthcare is the hospital fees. Three days in the hospital after a hip replacement, and the hospital services were billed to the insurance as $90,000. The doctor got additional $3,500. Hospital services $90,000.

  • The republicans sent around a script for the party. If you veer from the script you get chastised or even booted out of the party. The problem with these new politicians, is that they liked the message, as did their constitutents, but just didn't have a handle on the particulars.

  • Agree! And let those duped citizens who voted for the "smaller government" balanced budget party see the error of their ways. It wasn't the message - a perfectly good message - but the actual implementation of the message - less teachers, defunding pensions, less police, cuts to medicare and SS.

  • Myself I'm interested in having political advertising be free from falsehoods. And that all political donations over $100 should be publicly disclosed. No more of this huge undisclosed corporate machine moving dollars into their political party PAC's.

  • Disagree Dennis. The liberals are not to blame for this trickle up mentality. True we have high ideals. End poverty. Yeah. Feed the poor, heal the sick. Sorry. We have our ideals. The ideals derive from seeing how the wealthy treat the rest of us. How money can be power.

  • ok, I am trying to do the math. You put your money into the stock market for many years and have say $400,000 at age 60. ok. So you are used to living on $40K a year. 400,000 divided by 40,000 = 10 years and you are now 70. ok. and now you have other 401K pension or whatever....
